Ace caravan windows
Terry Reed, co-owner of Astral, left the company in 1962 to set up his own company, ACE Caravans in Hull with a capital of GBP 2000. The first production is even exported to the Netherlands. At the end of the 1960s, production was moved to Beverley and the company also started with a mobile home.
In February 1972, ACE and its neighbor, Belmont Caravans, a mobile home manufacturer founded in 1966, decided to merge and form ABI (Ace Belmont International). ACE remains the caravan brand. In the mid-1990s, mother ABI builds caravans for France, (Axxor) Germany (Cristall) and the Netherlands (Beyerland and Delta) and is then the largest manufacturer in England and number three in Europe. Still, things went wrong in 1998 and the company ran into financial difficulties, so much so that 600 people lost their jobs and the company went bankrupt. The Dutch H2 group takes over the molds and brand names from Beyerland and the sister brands.
On May 11, 1998, Gary Klesch of Klesch Capital Investors USA purchases the bank's business. Restart September 1998: ABI UK Ltd. In 2004 ABI decided to continue as a mobile home manufacturer and Swift took over the caravan branch. Swift reintroduces the ACE brand after six years, until summer 2007.
